Daily Sketchbook Spots

The New York Times Feb 2020

Every month, the New York Times asks a different illustrator to do a daily drawing for the third page of the paper. The only thing they ask is that you include a newspaper.

For some reason, I was really taken with the idea of people in chairs, reading.  I can only attirbute it to being on a Bruno Munari kick as I personally don’t own a lounging chair myself and tend to read the news standing up in the kitchen, on my phone obviously.

In the end, my mild choice of theme was ultimately a great reason to experiment with shape, texture, and collage.
